The application process for the “gifted and talented” programs takes place this month

MISD has streamlined the process to make it easier for parents to nominate their students for Carver Center enrollment or inclusion in secondary programs for students who have been identified as gifted and talented (G/T). This year, applications can be submitted for students of all grades during the month of October.

Applications are accepted from all public, private, charter, and home school students who live within MISD’s catchment area. Applications can be completed and submitted through Apply Midland by visiting midlandisd.net/apply.

“This new format simplifies the application and nomination process for all families, especially those with students in more than one grade,” Director of Advanced Academic Services Judy Bridges said in a press release. “Once students have been tested, those who have applied and are identified for G/T will be contacted for next steps.”

Each nominated student will be selected for inclusion in G/T programming.

Please note that the application window will close on October 31.

Midland ISD is hosting parent information sessions over the next two weeks to learn more about the nomination process. Each session starts at 5:30 p.m.

“We are thrilled to have parents come visit the Carver Center for these information sessions and to learn more about our program,” said Stephanie Carnett, executive administrator of the Carver Center.

Carver Center is a first through sixth grade campus that is Midland ISD’s signature program for gifted and talented (G/T) elementary students. This application process is required for students wishing to attend the Carver Center.
