The Wyoming State Historical Society’s holiday gift list is not affected by the pandemic or supply chain issues, so buyers won’t be disappointed.

The Society, a nonprofit, member-driven educational organization, publishes the Wyoming History Calendar and has new publications to add to the list. “Wyoming History in Art” is a color book featuring works by the late artist David Paulley.

In the late 1980s, the Society commissioned Paulley to paint 30 paintings depicting various events in Wyoming history since 1851, when Father DeSmet was camping along the shores of DeSmet Lake.

Father DeSmet left his name on Independence Rock during his travels, administered a Catholic mass at the Green River Rendezvous in 1840, and baptized over three hundred Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho.

Another great book, written by author and historian John Richard Waggener, is “Snow Chi Minh Trail: The 50th Anniversary of Interstate 80”. This updated edition features oral histories, images that have never been published before, and much more.

Then, of course, there’s the ever-popular 2022 version of the Wyoming History Calendar featuring images from the American Heritage Center collections and the Wyoming State Archives.

The images represent all regions of the state and feature 365 daily facts that cover significant historical events in the history of the state and some interesting and some of which may be surprising!
