GOP senator demands Moscow thesis from OCC candidate on Marx

By Jon Hill (Oct 6, 2021, 9:17 p.m. EDT) – The top Republican on the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday called on the Kazakh-born choice of the Biden administration to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to produce a copy of his 1980s thesis at Moscow State University, which critics see as a potential link to Marxist ideology.

Senator Pat Toomey, R-Pa., Suggested in a letter to candidate Saule Omarova that the thesis was deleted, saying his staff requested it last month but had so far “received no assurances” from her or the OCC that Senators receive a copy of the document “in due course”.
