York Asst. Elected Professor on the SHAPE America Board of Trustees—York College/CUNY

Dr. Ramsey is in good company among a list of other professors and administrators from colleges and universities across the United States, including the University of Nebraska at Kearney, North Dakota State University and the University of Northern Colorado.

As national spokesperson for SHAPE America, Dr. Ramsey will promote “well-designed physical education, physical activity, and health education programs; and lend his expertise to combat the growing epidemic of physical inactivity in children and the importance of physical activity for everyone.”

Professor Ramsey has been affiliated with SHAPE America since his undergraduate studies at York College. After earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education, he began teaching. During his more than 32-year career, he has served as a physical education teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, and regional director of fitness and physical education. Along the way, he also earned a graduate degree from Brooklyn College and a doctorate in curriculum and teaching from Columbia University.

In his current role as education administrator, Dr. Ramsey trains and supports health and physical educators. He recently served as a member of SHAPE America’s EDI Committee and Recruitment and Retention Task Force. He also currently serves on the board of the New York State Associate of Physical Education. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
