The Virginia Department of Veteran Services, in partnership with Virginia Community Colleges, will host the 2021 Virginia Military and Veteran Education Summit next week.
The September 22-23 summit, which will be held as a virtual event this year, will bring together administrators, advisors and faculty from the Virginia community and four-year colleges and universities, leaders of school, government and business leaders and representatives of student veterans organizations. The summit agenda will include a variety of presentations and panel discussions focused on veteran students, career planning, educational benefits, opportunities and community resources with a major focus on promoting advanced manufacturing and technical career paths in the Commonwealth.
“Military-related students are a growing segment of higher education at community colleges and four-year educational institutions in Virginia,” said Martina Murray, director of education programs at the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. “There is great diversity among these students in terms of demographics and their service history. This is why it is so important to develop comprehensive and targeted support services for these unique students.
