DeKALB, Ill. – Senior Associate Athletic Director of Northern Illinois University Anton Goff is one of 12 people selected for the inaugural class of the LEAD1 Diversity Fellowship Program, a new program designed to better prepare people of color and women administrators for athletic director positions.
Goff heads the Student-Athlete Academic Support Services Unit at NIU, serves as a Athletic Administrator for the Huskie Volleyball and Women’s Track / Cross Country programs, and oversees the NIU Recreation Department, which has come under the NIU Athletics umbrella in 2020.
The program stems from a white paper published by LEAD1 that recommended elements of action to create a more diverse leadership among NCAA Division 1 football (FBS) programs. NIU Associate Vice President and Sports Director Sean T. Frazier co-chaired the LEAD1 Diversity, Equity and Inclusions working group, which developed the white paper, and is part of the oversight committee that selected the 12 applicants for the Diversity Fellowship program.

Goff and his classmates will be matched with mentors who currently serve as athletic directors at the FBS level and will participate in monthly virtual discussions with college athletic leaders throughout the year.
