Associate Dean Kendra Killpatrick recently received the EAB 2022 Technology Pioneer Award for her innovative leadership in student success. Killpatrick led the college in its implementation of the Navigate student success platform.

“Our goal for all Seaver students is that they find an academic program that challenges and inspires them and that they are able to successfully graduate from Pepperdine,” says Killpatrick. “Using the Navigate platform allows us to provide students with holistic academic support, integrating many areas of the College such as OneStop, the Student Success Center, academic advisors and more. Additionally, the platform’s analytics provide important information about students who could benefit from additional academic support, and we can provide these resources in a timely manner.

Navigate’s usefulness has resonated with students, as 95% of Seaver College freshmen have downloaded the mobile app. Using this platform, which is managed by Associate Dean Kindy De Long, students receive an array of resources designed to boost them in their academic careers. In particular, the Navigate app allows undergraduates to receive useful academic to-do lists, enrollment options, release of tips, or financial withholdings, while streamlining degree filing.

In addition to advocating on behalf of this helpful resource, Pepperdine University served as Alpha Partner for Next Generation Academic Planning. As part of this collaboration, the University has helped create an effective tool that allows students to create their optimal four-year graduation plan. By designing this plan on Navigate, counselors across campus have the ability to view and offer feedback to their students.

“Students, faculty, and campus staff have become more savvy about combining online and in-person student support services,” says EAB’s President of Technology, Scott Schirmeier. “The winners of the 2022 EAB Student Success Collaboration Awards are leading the way in rethinking the student support model and creatively using technology to keep students on track to graduate. »

The EAB 2022 Technology Pioneer Award recognizes Killpatrick as a leader in using technology to support student success. More than that, this honor exemplifies Seaver College’s commitment to creating an environment conducive to academic success.
