DepEd published the school calendar and activities for the SY 2021-2022 on Wednesday August 5, “in line with its commitment to ensure the continuity of learning in the midst of the health crisis”.

President Duterte approved September 13, 2021 as the opening date of SY 2021-2022.

Based on DepEd Ordinance No. 029, 2021 Series, SY 2021-2022 which consists of 209 school days, including Saturdays and the five-day mid-year break, will end on 24 June 2022.

With the school year compressed, DepEd said that conducting distance education activities on Saturdays is allowed.

If religious considerations prevent these Saturday activities, they can take place on Sunday. However, teachers will not be required to render service on Saturdays and Sundays.

“The conduct of face-to-face courses, whether partial or complete, will only be permitted if authorized by the President’s Office. “

DepEd has allowed private schools and state or local universities and colleges (SUC / LUC) to implement or deviate from the school calendar.

“In addition, they can start classes no earlier than the first Monday in June and no later than September 13, 2021 in accordance with RA (Republic Act) 11480,” he said.

“However, any deviation from the school calendar must be reported in advance to the respective regional offices (ROs). “

DepEd said schools can observe national and local celebrations or activities and holidays, as long as they are beneficial to the teaching-learning process and the total number of school days is not compromised.

Regional offices may issue additional calendars to reflect their local events, he said.

“In preparation for the opening of classes, Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela will be leading, focusing on an information campaign and strengthening partnerships that complement the department’s efforts to ensure quality basic education.

DepEd has released the SY 2021-2022 School Calendar and Activities Implementation Guidelines, which cover both public and private primary and secondary schools, including Community Learning Centers (CLCs).

Based on the guidelines, SY 2021-2022 will officially start on September 13, 2021, Monday and end on June 24, 2022, Friday.

In the alternative learning system, the learning intervention will officially open on September 13, 2021. The duration of the program will depend on the training of the learner or the level of knowledge existing before enrolling in the ALS program.

In view of the opening of classes for the SY 2021-2022, registrations will take place from August 16 to September 13.

DepEd said a separate set of registration guidelines for SY 2021-2022 to be released.

He said that the “Brigada Eskwela” and “Oplan Balik Eskwela” will be held on the announced dates and will focus on the information campaign, preparations and strengthening partnerships that complement the efforts of DepEd to ensure basic education of quality.

DepEd said the Christmas vacation will start on Saturday, December 20, and classes will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022.
