Children’s Christmas Party

Cedar Creek Valley Ruritan Club is hosting a children’s community Christmas party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Hill Christian Church, 378 Laurel Hill Way, Strasbourg. Father Christmas will arrive at 3 p.m. A light lunch will be served.

VECCA

The Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts will be hosting pottery demonstrations led by Sarah Kohrs from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday at 123 S. Main St., Woodstock. Information: www.vecca.org.

Gift cards needed

Signal Knob Middle School’s FFA / Ag Education Department is collecting gift card donations for those affected by tornadoes in western Kentucky.

Suggested places to purchase gift cards are: Lowe’s, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, gas stations and national food chains.

Donations go directly to FFA members, families and communities. Donations / cards can be sent to the school, Attention FFA Chapter, 687 Sandy Hook Road, Strasburg, Virginia 22657.

Meet santa claus

Santa will be at Domino’s in Woodstock for photos from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday. A percentage of the sales will benefit the Shenandoah County Public School Bold Club for Community Service and Youth Enrichment. Information: 540-459-2001.

Beekeepers

Beekeepers in northern Shenandoah will be holding meetings through Zoom starting in January. Classes will resume in February. Information: https://tinyurl.com/2p9bmv6e.

Retired teachers

The Shenandoah County Retired Teachers Association, which also has members who are retired bus drivers, secretaries, teaching assistants and custodians, held its first in-person meeting since 2019 on December 7 at Triplett Tech in Mount Jackson .

Over 60 members attended and enjoyed the lunch prepared by Chef Paje Cross and his Culinary Arts students. Melody Sheppard, Superintendent of Shenandoah County Public Schools, was the guest speaker. The leaders were elected for 2022-24.

The next meeting will be a dinner meet on May 3 at Peter Muhlenburg Middle School. A memorial service and presentation of the scholarship will take place. Reservations are required by calling 540-933-6676 or writing to Adina McInturff at [email protected].
