CIS announces grants for medical assistants

HOUMA, La (BRPROUD) – The Southern Cardiovascular Institute (CIS) is offering scholarships to anyone interested in online education to become a medical assistant.

The benefits of the scholarship include convenient online education, free tuition, and the possibility of productive employment.

“This scholarship provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform non-invasive and peripheral examinations of the cardiovascular system to help physicians make diagnosis and therapeutic treatments,” said an official press release from CIS.

The eligibility conditions include:

  • Copy of current COMPASS, ACT or Accuplacer scores meeting minimum requirements listed by CIS
  • Two professional letters of recommendation
  • Official CV with contact details

CIS has partnered with Fletcher Technical Community College to develop and deliver this program which includes instruction on reviewing and recording patient data, seeing a doctor, operating equipment, diagnostic procedures , data analysis, professional standards and ethics. Meeting the admission requirements for Fletcher Technical Community College is also an eligibility requirement.

Upon graduation, participants will receive a Certificate of Technical Competence (CTC) in Clinical Medical Assistant. They will be eligible for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association.
